VideoReview

What are the elements that make a good video?

VideoReview.M4V

Videography is an art and requires a skill and training.

Briefly i will sum up some of the basic components to produce video:

1. Plan

-define your projects purpose, audience, and the video style you'd like to use

-be sure to scout locations for scenes and shots

2. Equipment setup

- know you camera functions

- decide if you will need extra light or not

- what type of audio capture will you be doing, internal or external

3. Capturing

-know proper framing(traditional is the 1/3 framing)

-plan for cut-aways and cut ins

- will you be using a tripod or filming by hand?

- will you be including still images in your presentation? if yes where?

4. Editing becomes an art

- decide on what editing software best fits you(from beginner to advanced)

- all of you hard work in filming will assist in your overall editing experience

- sound is a key point to a final project. it will add another dimensions to your project.

I feel the most important part of production is that you are having fun and you take the opportunity to express yourself.

Podcasting has become an  amazing source of education. Will it take the place of teachers? probably not, there will always be a need for an instructor. It is however a great source for learning, a student can watch and re-watch a podcast but not a live lecture. I feel having both would be the ideal, for the teacher and expesially the student learing the content presented by the instructor.

Meet Me

Aloha!
I grew up on da(the) BIG Island of Hawaii. My family moved there when I was 4 yrs old. I attended school at E.B. DeSilva Elementary, Laupahoehoe, Hilo Intermediate, and graduated from Hilo High 'o4. I am currently attending BYU-Hawaii and Majoring in Computer & Information Sciences (CIS).
I served a two year mission in Tennessee, Knoxville for the LDS Church '05-'07.
I could be called a "Jack of many traits". Thats because I enjoy trying a little bit of everything. Computers are one of those pieces from the bag of traits that I am developing.

Reflection

  • What are the main messages in each of the articles?
Web2.0 is the door to student teaching interaction, where we network to learn from each other.
  • What are the suppporting messages?
It is important to keep up with the times. there is a lot of information in the world and more important than having the right answer is knowing where to find the right answers. Web2.0 is a great source for the world to learn(e-learning) from each other in a every growing and moving world.
  • What are the examples the articles used to illustrate these messages?
Skills 2.0 article used the example of a doctor not being able to keep up with the knowledge their patients would bring into the appointment. because the patients where reading up on scholar published blogs.

WEB2.0 Learning Platform article teaches of the importance of keeping up with the rapid changes of society and how important e-learning is. A great way to educate is by the means of distant learning. A small college, BYU-Hawaii is experimenting such to reach their student focus in both Asia/Oceania.
  • How do I feel and what do I think I can apply in my own professional development?
These articles helped me realize that to be on the top of my game in my profession I need to develop a network, always be learning using the tools that are available and be willing to share what i learn with others.
